Max turns 4!
We had Max's birthday today (a few days after his birthday, but we wanted to have his party on the weekend of course). Tony Jr. and Charlotte were there, Maddie, Eddie and Charlie also came to celebrate with us and all of their parents. We did a "spaceship" theme since Max has been so interested in spaceships, shuttles and space in general lately. We had an AMAZING cake made from Bennison's Bakery here in Evanston- it was awesome - there were even asteroids on it and a shuttle! It was flavored buttercream frosting with yellow cake (the cake was "painted" like the moon with space in the background - I'll post pictures as soon as we get them off the camera). We had a Star Wars table cloth, streamers, stickers, plates and napkins and silvery garland with stars hanging off of it for decor. I put larger silver stars up around the room and we had lots of black and silver helium balloons all around the room. (just love those portable helium tanks! Fabulous for parties!) We ordered pizza and breadsticks and we put out a large fruit tray for lunch - capri suns and soda for the drinks. For entertainment the kids mostly played in the playroom - but we also had a shuttle pinata (filled with fruit gummies and m-n-m's in little packs) and we tried to play Bonzo buckets (they didn't really get the game - but we did try) and everyone won a little truck for a prize. We gave out goodie bags with a magnifiying glass, crayons, googly-eye rings and toy planes in them. I think Max had a super-good time and he actually did "get it" this year that it was his birthday! He and Ash have been singing "Happy Birthday To You" for days now. LOL!

Max's birthday-day
So - Max had "playschool" today (Its actually called Creative Play Preschool) and since it was his birthday we made up goodie bags for him to give to all of his little classmates. They were in colored paper bags with spaceship stickers on them and labeled, "Thank you for celebrating with me today! Your friend, Max". We put little packs of Teddy Grahams, Gummies and Halloween candy in each one with a little ribbon on it. They were super-cute and the teachers were so thrilled they wouldn't have to clean up cupcake mess from a classroom full of 3 and 4 year olds. His teachers made a really big deal of his birthday and he got to wear a special birthday hat that said, "4" and "Max" on it. Everyone sang happy birthday to him as well and by the time he came home he kept saying, "I'm 4!, I'm 4!" over and over again. I think he had a really good time.
